‘Tis the Holiday Season
Dec 14 2017 · 0 comments · UncategorizedCan you believe that 2017 is almost over? Neither can we! We also can’t believe that Christmas is less than 2 weeks away! If you have yet to finish checking everything off your Christmas shopping list (don’t worry, we haven’t even started), make sure you stop by the store and to find the perfect gift for those special individuals in your life! We have great stocking stuffers thanks to Harmony on West (a local, all natural soap shop) – yes that is why our store smells AMAZING when you walk in! We have wonderful, impressionistic ceramic pieces handmade by the lovely Pat Paquin for the creative one on your Christmas list! For anyone on your list who loves cars, we have fine art automotive prints created by the incredibly talented Michael Irvine. We also have a wide selection of barrel pieces, each handcrafted from wine barrels, designed and constructed by our humble carpenter, Doug Klassen – planning on buying a few piece ourselves! But the list doesn’t end there – we have many other artworks and pieces available, so make sure to stop in before Christmas! And of course, being in the picture framing business, we have TONS of stock frames available, and guess what?! We still have a couple more deliveries from our suppliers before we close up for the holidays on December 23rd at noon! That means that if you have a family heirloom, hockey jersey, needlework, or canvas (the list could go on), you can still get it in time for Christmas! Let us help you check some items off your Christmas list!
All the best this holiday season!

In the Penalty Box
Dec 03 2017 · 1 comment · UncategorizedThe hockey season may have just begun, but as hockey fans ourselves, showcasing our passion for the sport lasts all year long! Perhaps you’ve saved the tickets that brought you to a hockey game each year, or a jersey signed by your favourite hockey player, visit us for options on preserving these memories for years to come!
Framing hockey jerseys has always been a popular service here at Kennedy Picture Framing and we always seem to have a few on the go all year round.
When handling jerseys we pride ourselves on providing a technique that ensures both presentation and preservation. As each jersey is different in shape, size and dimension, a custom form must be made for each one using conservation artcare foamcore. We then pin the jersey to this form using stainless steel pins in order to ensure that the jersey is preserved for collectibility – as many of the jerseys we frame are signed by our hockey heroes themselves – others have much sentimental value. Either way, we ensure that each jersey is framed to be preserved, and that the technique we utilize is completely reversible. The custom form is then sewn to an archival matboard in the colour of your choice. We then build a box around the entire jersey to allow airspace between the jersey and the glass. The project is completed with glass and a frame, and then wired and ready to hang!
Little insider scoop, we are huge Toronto Blue Jays fans (go Jays go!), thus, we do not limit our jersey framing to just hockey! Maybe you have a Jay’s t-shirt, or a football jersey you would like to showcase in your home or office – feel free to stop on by and see what options are available for your sports memorabilia!
See you soon!

New Beginnings
Mar 03 2013 · 0 comments · UncategorizedWell here we are…..new year….new business…..new store…..new adventure…..
Dave and I are so excited to be open in our brand new gallery at the corner of Lake and Carlton. We know that there have been a lot of questions about what happened to the Kennedy family and that the community has been wondering where we have been for the past few months. We want everyone to know how much we appreciate your concern and that Dave and I are now up and running and are so excited to show you our fantastic new gallery.
Those of you who know us personally will know that last year was a tough one for both of us. In July I lost my mother, Maria Klokkou, after a 12-year battle with cancer. My mother was not only a beautifully talented artist with an incredibly positive outlook on life…..she was also my mentor, my inspiration……and my best friend. Losing her so suddenly was devastating to both of us and left me on compassionate leave from my accounting job for several months. We moved from St. Catharines into her gallery/home in Niagara Falls where we now reside and proceeded to deal with daunting task of all that is involved with losing a parent.
In December of the same year, Dave’s father made the difficult decision to close down Picture Frame Warehouse on Ontario Street after 35 years in business. It was a hard decision for both Terry and Virginia but health issues and the struggling economy led them to the realization that it was time to retire from the picture framing business. The closure of the store left many people wondering what the future would hold for the Kennedy family. Dave has worked in the picture framing business with his family for over three decades and we found ourselves with some serious decisions to make about our future. With me still on compassionate leave and Dave now “unemployed” we sat down to discuss what we should do next….
What are we good at? What do we love to do? What are we known for?
Hmmmm……Maybe we could go into the picture framing business??? Just the two of us, working together again….Eureka!!!
So….onwards and upwards as they say…..
On February 1st, Dave and I launched a brand new picture framing business and opened up at the corner of Lake and Carlton. We feel great about the new space and cannot wait to share it with everyone. Dave’s parents are enjoying a peaceful retirement and are looking forward to a summer of golf and swimming. They have been so supportive with our new venture, as I know my Mum would be if she were here.
We truly appreciate the continued support of our friends, family and community and cannot wait to welcome you to our new space.
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING DURING OUR DIFFICULT TIMES.
We could not have done any of this without your support; we are truly blessed to be a part of such a close community.
See you soon!
